You’ve likely heard the following phrases:
- What you think about comes about.
- You create your reality.
- We become what we think about.
- Whatever you think and believe, you can achieve.
You resonate with them and say YES, that must be true! One of my mentors explained that we recognize the truth deep inside. Yet, if you had to tell someone how to use their thinking to create what they wanted it might be difficult for you to explain.
As a woman thinketh, so is she… everything you think becomes your reality. However, it’s not what you tell people you think or what you wish people believe you think. It’s your innermost thoughts that become your reality.
So, in the quiet times when you are all alone what are your innermost thoughts? Do you secretly doubt yourself, criticize yourself, and wonder if things will work out for you?
Maybe you’ve experienced a bit of what I did over the years.
I spent years studying the mind-body connection, self-help books, going to seminars, workshops, and trainings in personal development. I was very well versed in the lingo, the words, and knew that what we think about comes about. It just made sense. Yet I didn’t really know how to do it. And I experienced a lot of up and downs in my results over the years. It got frustrated because I thought I was doing all the right things. I would wonder, why isn’t it working for me when I see it work for other people?
The truth was, I was creating my reality, it just wasn’t the reality I wanted!
You can put on outer appearances, a false façade, hide behind your knowledge, and pretend all you want but it’s your innermost thoughts that create your experiences.
This is where it become tricky, and you must be extremely honest with yourself.
Spend some time reflecting on your innermost thoughts. You think these in the quiet of your room, in the middle of the night, or in private moments of reflections. It’s what you really think about yourself. You may even be unconscious to what you think and believe.
A short cut to knowing what you are thinking is to look at your current results in life because they tell you exactly what you’ve been thinking.
How can you change your thinking to get what you want?
Think of your mind as a garden. You can plant weeds or flowers and either will grow. Negatively, when you let ideas of worry and doubt fester, they become fear and lead to anxiety. Positively, when you know you can, and back it by a big desire it will lead you to the pleasant outcome you want.
Your mind is not particular it will grow whatever you plant weeds or flowers equally, you get to choose.
“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.” -Earl Nightingale
Any thoughts you allow yourself to get emotionally involved with will be planted in the garden of your mind. When you feed them, water them, and nurture them with repetition you will begin to believe them. Your mind connects to your body, and it begins to release energy or vibrate with the ideas you have planted. It will then attract back to it more of the same or similar vibration. We call this cause and effect or the law of attraction.
Your results tell you exactly what you have been thinking.
Your current results are based on what you have been thinking in the past several weeks to months. When you keep focused on your current results you create more of the same.
We call this insanity. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result yet getting the same.
To get a new result you must think of what you want, where you will be, and who you will become and only impress that into the garden of your mind.
Remember your results tell you exactly what you’ve been thinking, often harsh but always fair.
If you don’t like them, you have the power to change them with this simple process.
